I know, it's hard changing everything you thought you knew about fats relationship to your health
Contrary to what you were taught for many years, saturated fats are not linked to increased cardiovascular risks.
I am just getting started on this subjuct. Do most people even care about this? Probably not, they go to their doctor and he says "your cholesterol is too high, I am putting you on a statin. Oh, and by they way, please eat low fat foods to try and lower your cholestrol". To the unitiated they will just listen to the doctor. Most folks are just too busy to care about their health to do their own research. And the fact is most GPs are too busy to research this, and they are likely stuck have to follow guidlines about such things and do not want to rock the boat. Hence they prescribe the drugs(statins) as a good doctor will do. All the while the pharmaceutical companies are kept happy!
Saturated fats no longer the true enemy, experts say
Investigative journalist Nina Teicholz reveals the unthinkable: that everything we thought we knew about dietary fats is wrong. She documents how the past sixty years of low-fat nutrition advice has amounted to a vast uncontrolled experiment on the entire population, with disastrous consequences for our health.
For decades, we have been told that the best possible diet involves cutting back on fat, especially saturated fat, and that if we are not getting healthier or thinner it must be because we are not trying hard enough. But what if the low-fat diet is itself the problem? What if those exact foods we’ve been denying ourselves — the creamy cheeses, the sizzling steaks — are themselves the key to reversing the epidemics of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease?
